What am I getting with MyDirectives advance care planning for AARP Medicare Supplement members insured by UnitedHealthcare?
MyDirectives is a digital tool that lets you create, store, update, retrieve and share an advance care plan. The tool is designed to give you confidence your “voice can be heard” if you ever suffer a health emergency and cannot communicate for yourself with family, caregivers, or medical personnel.
Once you have created your plan, you should share and discuss it with your healthcare advocate so he or she knows your wishes, and with your doctor to learn more about how it will be accessed when needed.
My Dashboard gives you an overview of the status of your advance care plan. From this page, you can print and share your plan.
We store it electronically until it is needed. If you prefer, you can print your plan and take it with you to the hospital. No matter how many times you update your advance care plan, MyDirectives will only print the most recent document to avoid confusion about versions. Each piece of paper that is printed is stamped with the date and time. It you don’t have access to a printer, you can share your advance care plan electronically through the tool.
